Glenmorangie – Signet (70cl, 46%)

Glenmorangie Signet is a Highland single malt in a 70cl bottle at 46%. It draws on some very old malts, in part up to 30 years old, combined with heavily roasted barley known as chocolate malt. The roasted malt gives the coffee, cocoa and mocha character. Maturation took place in fresh white oak casks, Oloroso sherry casks and other woods, and the whisky carries no age statement. The nose is full of cocoa, dark berries and chocolate, with cinnamon, a hint of sherry and spice. The palate balances sweetness with dark mocha and ripe fruit, alongside spiced nuts, buttery pastry, clove, cinnamon and mint. The finish is long and fresh, with peppermint.
