Glenmorangie The Nectar 16 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, developed from the distillery's Nectar D'Or with longer ageing and a more involved second maturation. It aims for the dessert-like character of a French pastry shop.
The spirit spends 14 years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then a further two years in four sweet white wine casks: Sauternes, Monbazillac, Moscatel and Tokaji.
The nose offers warm brioche, peach syrup, baked apricot and vanilla pudding. The palate is unctuous and sticky, with lemon zest, cinnamon French toast, white chocolate, flaked almonds and honeycomb. The finish is long, with baking bread, orange syrup and sweet wood spice.
