A 31 year old Glenrothes from Speyside, distilled in 1966 and bottled in 1998 by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 30.25, under the name Liquid Mahogany. It comes from a single sherry hogshead and made 155 bottles.
In the Society's code, the first number identifies the distillery and the second the cask. The Society was founded in Edinburgh in 1983 by Phillip 'Pip' Hills, who had fallen in love with whiskies drawn straight from the cask.
