This is the 2022 release of Glenturret Peat Smoked, a seven-year-old Highland single malt from Scotland's oldest working distillery, The Glenturret.
It is matured in a mix of American and European oak, with American oak leading the way. Sherry-seasoned American oak adds a confectionery sweetness, while refill casks let the peat smoke come through.
The nose offers sea salt, heather, soft smoke and a little vanilla. On the palate come citrus fruits, ginger and nutmeg with sweet spice and a gentle, coastal-style peat smoke that lingers.
