A 26-year-old Ardmore from Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice range, distilled in 1994 and matured in a refill American oak hogshead. It was bottled at 53.1%.
The nose opens with vanilla and honeydew melon, followed by subtle cured meats, soft ripe pear, toasted oak and a hint of lemon. On the palate it is sweet and creamy, with apricot, apple and peppery spice, before pineapple, citrus and soft floral notes come forward. The medium-bodied finish brings tropical fruit and smouldering smoke.
