Green Chartreuse is a French herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks in the Alps from a secret recipe of 130 herbs, plants and flowers. Its green colour comes entirely from the ingredients, and it is aged in oak casks. It is bottled at 55% in a 75cl bottle.
The nose is fresh with alpine herbs, pine, mint, anise and citrus zest. The palate is bold and layered, with mint, thyme, rosemary, cardamom, wormwood, sweet liquorice and fennel over honeyed sweetness. The finish is long and warming, with lingering botanicals, spice and earthy depth. It can be sipped neat or over ice, or used in cocktails.
