Gwalarn is the first blend from the Celtic Whisky Distillerie in Brittany. It brings together Scottish and German whisky with the distillery's own peated Kornog, and is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
Distiller and cellar master Aël Guégan created the blend with Jean-Sébastien Robicquet, founder of Maison Villevert. It matures in oak casks and is brought down to drinking strength with water from the distillery's spring. The name is the Breton word for the north-west wind.
The nose offers cereal, ripe fruit and vanilla over light peat. The palate is lively and fruity, with vanilla, honey and a creamy middle. The finish is full, with peat, grain and a salty note.
