A 12 year old Japanese single malt from Hakushu, released in a limited edition for the 100th anniversary of the House of Suntory, with a new label design. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
Hakushu is Suntory's mountain distillery, set in the forests of Mt. Kaikomagatake. The whisky is made from peated spirit, softened with pure mountain water.
The nose is toasted barley, seed and nut loaf and almonds, with a little barrel char. The palate is fruitier but not sweet, herbaceous and grassy with a waft of smoke, and the finish is short with orange peel.
