Hakushu Distiller's Reserve is a lightly peated Japanese single malt from the Hakushu distillery in the forests of the Southern Alps. It is made from malted barley and soft mountain water from the Ojira and Jingu rivers.
Lightly and heavily peated malts, distilled in a variety of pot stills, are blended together. The whisky is matured in American oak and ex-bourbon casks.
The nose brings green apple, fresh herbs, a wisp of smoke, peppermint and cucumber. Pear, yuzu and gentle malt sweetness lead on the palate, and the finish is bright and clean, with green tea and mint.
