Half 'n' Half 2010/2022 11 Year Old Spey Valley Stout Cask - Murray McDavid (70cl, 46%)

Half 'n' Half is an 11-year-old Scotch blend from Murray McDavid's Crafted Blend series, made in equal parts from Speyside single malts from four distilleries and Highland single grain. The name recalls the Glasgow habit of ordering a whisky with half a pint of beer. The whisky was distilled in 2010 and matured in Bourbon hogsheads, then finished in hogsheads that first held stout from Spey Valley Brewery. It was bottled in 2022 at 46% as 1,059 bottles, natural colour and not chill-filtered. Sweet malt, milk chocolate and vanilla lead the nose. The palate brings creamy grain, spiced milky coffee and soft fruit, and the finish leaves gentle oak spice, fruity malt and oat biscuit.
