HighGlen – 3 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch 1 (50cl, 46.4%)

HighGlen 3 Year Old is a Swiss single malt bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company for the first batch of their Norwest-Euro Express series, which celebrates some of Europe's newer distilleries. It is a single cask bottling at 46.4% ABV, with 131 half-litre bottles released. The distillery sits in owner Lord Gunter Sommer's home near the Swiss-Italian border and runs on rooftop solar panels. Sommer built all the equipment apart from the still, and matures the spirit in hand-made 100L barrels made from ex-bourbon staves with ex-sherry heads. On the nose there is fruit and nut chocolate, with plums and black cherry growing darker over time. The palate brings rich chocolate, dried peel, spices and caramel, with a slight herbal woodiness.
