Highland Fusilier 25 Years Old is a single malt from Gordon & MacPhail, dating from the 1990s. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is aged and elegant, with pine needles and rich dried dark fruit, plus light herbal notes, resin and a sweet, balsamic background. On the palate it is enveloping, with wood tannins and fruit sweetness arriving at once, like a warm blanket. Sherry shows strongly through dark, dry raisins and a hint of pickled blackcurrant leaf.
The finish is long and dry, with noble wood and toasted nuts lingering.
