Highland Park 10 Year Old Viking Scars is a single malt from Orkney, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured for ten years, mainly in European and American oak casks that were seasoned with sherry.
Part of the barley is malted by hand on a traditional malting floor, using aromatic peat from Hobbister Moor. The result is a whisky that sets heather honey sweetness beside gentle peat smoke.
The nose is heather honey, citrus fruit and fresh oak with a light waft of peat smoke. The palate brings vanilla, ginger spice and sweet orange, with honey and light smokiness. The finish is medium in length, with lingering smoke, sweet spices and a touch of sea salt.
