Highland Park Sea of Orkney 16 Year Old is a single malt distilled and matured at Highland Park in Kirkwall, on Mainland, the largest island of Orkney. It is named after the waters that surround the islands.
The whisky matured in first-fill European and American oak sherry casks together with refill casks. It has a deep amber colour that comes entirely from the wood, with no added colouring, and is bottled at 44.5% ABV.
The nose shows dried apricots, figs and a zesty warmth, followed by nutmeg, floral heather and soft smoke. The palate has vanilla, nutty depth and gentle Orkney peat smoke. The finish is long, with brown sugar, toasted nuts and lingering smoke.
