A Highland Park distilled in 2007 and bottled by Duncan Taylor at 53.3% ABV for its Octave series. It spent ten years in cask, then a further six months in an octave, a small 50-litre cask built from used Spanish sherry casks.
The small cask leaves a strong mark on the whisky, while the classic Highland Park character stays clear and is strengthened by the octave. It comes from cask 5020256, with 103 bottles filled.
The finish is long and intense, with salt, light smoke, wood, dried fruit and a little spice.
