Highland Park Cask Strength Release No. 5 is a single malt from Orkney, bottled without dilution at 64.7% in a 70cl bottle.
It combines whisky from first-fill sherry-seasoned American oak casks, refill casks and bourbon barrels. Peat from Hobbister Moor is used in its making.
The nose has burnt orange peel, heather honey, sweet peat smoke and crushed black pepper. On the palate come oak spice, dark chocolate-covered ginger and sun-dried raisins, alongside sweet smoke and heathery peat. The finish is very long and warming, with crème brûlée, vanilla, light smoke and a little sea salt.
