Hudson Short Stack is a New York straight rye whiskey from Hudson Whiskey in the Hudson Valley, bottled at 46% in a 750ml bottle.
It begins as Hudson's straight rye, distilled from a rye-heavy mash of New York grain and aged in new charred American oak. It is then moved into barrels that previously held maple syrup from the region, where it picks up a rounded, toasty sweetness.
The nose offers maple sugar, toasted pecan and vanilla over rye bread and black pepper. On the palate, maple syrup and brown butter give way to clove, pepper and dried herbs. The finish is medium to long, with maple candy, oak spice and a peppery rye snap.
