Hyde Special Reserve is a 10 year old blended Irish whiskey, made from 20% Irish single malt and 80% Irish single grain. It matured for nine years in heavily charred first-fill ex-bourbon casks of 200 litres, then spent a year in 250-litre Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour.
The nose offers honey, dried fruit, fresh apple and redcurrant, followed by vanilla, toffee and spice. The palate is soft and buttery, with dried fruit and honeyed sweetness. The finish is long and silky, with gentle spice.
