This is a 1970s bottling of I.W. Harper Gold Medal, a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 75cl bottle. It was distilled and bottled at the Bernheim distillery in Louisville by the Schenley company. The I.W. in the name stands for Isaac Wolfe Bernheim, who founded the brand and, with his brother, helped establish Louisville as a centre of bourbon production. He chose Harper as a name he thought more marketable than his own. Schenley was organised in 1920 by Louis Rosenstiel, and its brands included I.W. Harper and Cream of Kentucky.
