Ichiro's Red Wine Cask 2023 is a Japanese whisky bottled at 50.5% in a 70cl bottle. It comes from Ichiro Akuto, who founded Chichibu Distillery in 2008 in the town of Chichibu, north of Tokyo, and who is known for experimenting with cask finishes, red wine casks among them. This 2023 release takes its character from red wine cask maturation, which brings a tannic structure to the whisky. The nose offers ripe red berries, honey and toasted oak with delicate spice. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with dark fruits, caramel and a touch of chocolate. The finish is long and warming, with vanilla and red fruit sweetness.
