A peated Islay single malt distilled at Bunnahabhain, released as Staoisha in the Infrequent Flyers series from Alistair Walker. It matured for nine years in a single ex-bourbon cask, from 2013 to 2022, then spent a further year in an ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry cask.
The cask gave 691 bottles at a full strength of 55.7% ABV. The nose is smoky, with buttered oatcake, lemon curd and oily tar. The palate has flinty minerality, seaweed and coastal peat smoke with lemon zest, softened by sweet caramel. The finish brings embers, baked apple, earthy spice with pepper, and a touch of smoky chilli.
