Irish Whiskey 24 Year Old Vintage 2002 18 Months Vermouth Cask Finish (70cl, 42.1%)

This is a 24 year old Irish whiskey from the 2002 vintage, in a 70cl bottle and bottled at 42.1% ABV. It was finished for 18 months in a vermouth cask. The nose starts with passion fruit and peach before turning herbal, with a clear vermouth note. Blackcurrants and tropical fruit sit behind, and the exotic sweetness wins out over the bitter edge. On the palate the fruit and the herbal bitterness come together well, and the whisky fills the mouth. The finish is long, with honey sweetness, lingering herbs, a slightly sour freshness and a mineral hint.
