Ironclad Straight Bourbon is a two-year-old bourbon from Newport News, Virginia, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The mash bill is a house four-grain recipe of corn, wheat, rye and malted barley from Virginia, and the whiskey matured in new charred oak casks. Roasted oak, cherry and buttery pastry form its core, with vanilla, caramel and honey alongside.
Tasting notes mention vanilla, caramel and honey on the nose, with a hint of citrus and leather. The palate is fruity with plenty of berries, honey and a slightly buttery texture, then spice, a little chocolate and roasted oak. The finish is soft, long and warm.
