Islay #3 is a 13 year old blended malt from That Boutique-y Whisky Company, released as Batch 5 in its Boutique-y Records series. It is bottled at 47.8% in a 50cl bottle, from an outturn of 296 numbered bottles. Strong smoke sits alongside dark fruit and the influence of Oloroso sherry casks. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The illustrated label shows a film scene with deliberate digital glitches, a playful nod to an illicit download. The nose offers clear smoke, cool menthol, fruity sweetness, rum-soaked raisins and mocha. On the palate, plums and blackberry jam meet burnt buttered toast, with smoke still present. The finish brings salted butter and malt bread, with smoke like the last embers of a campfire.
