Isle of Jura 12 Year Old is a single malt from the only distillery on the island of Jura, just north of Islay in the Inner Hebrides. The distillery was founded in 1962 by the local landowners Robin Fletcher and Tony Riley-Smith and is now owned by Whyte and Mackay. Unlike the smoky whiskies of its southern neighbour, Jura produces a subtle, unpeated style of single malt. The nose offers tropical fruit. On the palate come chocolate, walnut and citrus, then coffee, liquorice, salted bananas and brown sugar, with a whisper of smoke arriving in the finish.
