Isle of Skye 12 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

Isle of Skye 12 Years Old is a blended Scotch whisky from Ian Macleod Distillers, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The age is that of the youngest whisky in the blend, so every component has spent at least twelve years in oak casks. The brand began in 1933, when Ian Macleod put together a blend of island and mainland whiskies. Peated island malts are combined with softer Speyside and Highland malts and with grain whisky. It is chill-filtered and has added colour. The nose offers creamy vanilla, orange peel, coriander and honeycomb, with a faint heather-fire smoke. The palate is soft, with dried apricots, gooseberries and mild spice. Peat lingers in the finish alongside lime, dark chocolate and mint.
