A barrel proof Kentucky straight bourbon from James E Pepper, in a 75cl vintage-style decanter bottle that is meant to be reused once the bourbon is finished.
The brand takes its name from Colonel James E. Pepper, a Lexington, Kentucky distiller who sold whiskey under the family name Old Pepper. His distillery closed in 1967 and stood abandoned for more than fifty years, until the site was bought and the brand relaunched in 2008. Distilling resumed there in 2017.
The nose is toasted oak and walnuts. The palate brings oak, dried dark fruits and marzipan, and the medium-long finish carries creamy vanilla, citrus peel and nutmeg.
