Jefferson's Reserve Twin Oak is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 45.1% in a 75cl bottle. It begins as 10-year-old bourbon and is then finished for four months in custom grooved oak barrels, made in partnership with Independent Stave Company.
The grooves increase contact between spirit and wood, and the barrels are toasted slowly rather than charred, to draw out deeper caramelisation from the oak.
The nose offers deep caramel, baking spices and dark chocolate. The palate is rich with toffee and vanilla, then cinnamon and roasted almonds over charred oak. The finish is medium to long, with warming spice, cocoa and toasted marshmallow.
