Jeptha Creed – Four Grain Bloody Butcher Bourbon (75cl, 49%)

Jeptha Creed Four Grain Bloody Butcher Bourbon is a Kentucky straight bourbon distilled on the family's farm in Shelby County, bottled at 49% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The mashbill is 70% Bloody Butcher corn, an heirloom variety, with 15% malted rye, 10% malted wheat and 5% malted barley. Malting all three secondary grains began after a shipping error in 2014 delivered malted grains instead of unmalted ones, and the distillery kept the approach. The nose shows sweet cream candy, dried apricot, red berries and peach cobbler, with floral and herbal touches. The palate brings vanilla, toasted pecans, nutmeg, clove and orange zest. The finish is long and warming, with vanilla mint and baking spices.
