Jura 12 Year Old is a single malt from the island of Jura, which lies between Islay and the Scottish mainland. It is a core expression of the distillery.
The whisky is matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and then finished in oloroso sherry casks from Jerez in Spain. The bourbon wood brings vanilla and coconut, while the sherry adds fruit and sweetness. Smoke is only lightly present.
On the nose there are raisins, plums, orange, honey and vanilla, with cinnamon and a little sea salt. The palate is soft and medium-bodied, with caramel, peach and figs, and the finish runs medium to long.
