Kaiyo Five Wood is a Japanese blended malt whisky in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 44% ABV.
Its name refers to the five casks used: Mizunara oak, bourbon, Pedro Ximenez sherry, Oloroso sherry and French oak. Component whiskies were matured individually in these casks before blending.
The nose is fresh and floral, with lemon tart, candied orange peel, vanilla, melon, pear and barley sugar, plus traces of mizunara oak and bergamot. The palate shows lemon meringue pie, zesty orange, pepper, caramel and peach, and the finish is long and silky, with ripe summer fruits.
