Kaiyo The Kuri is a 7 year old Japanese single malt bottled at 46% ABV. It belongs to the Ariake Wood Collection, the ocean-aged series from Kaiyo. What sets it apart is the wood: it is matured in casks made entirely from Japanese Kuri, or chestnut. The whisky then spends 3 months at sea, which is meant to build its flavour. It is non-chill filtered. The tasting notes mention lavender and honey, with toasty nuts and ginger.
