Kammer-Kirsch Williams Birne Pear-in-Bottle Pear Brandy

A pear brandy from Distillerie Kammer-Kirsch in Germany's Black Forest. A developing pear is tied to a bottle on the tree and allowed to grow inside it; once ripe, the bottle is harvested and filled with distilled brandy from Williams (Bartlett) pears. The brandy rests in earthenware jugs in cool, vaulted cellars for extended mellowing. It is crafted without additives. The nose is delicate and crystalline, with fresh pear, ripe fruit, orchard mist and soft floral nuances, plus subtle herbal undertones. The palate is soft, plush and well-rounded, with sweet pear flesh and herbal hints. The finish is clean, lingering and subtly fruity, with pear orchard air and herbal clarity.
