Karuizawa – 1965 Haiku 50 Year Old (70cl, 62.3%)

This is a Karuizawa from the Haiku series, a tribute to Japanese poetry and nature. It was distilled in December 1965 and filled into a single sherry cask, then bottled in January 2016 at 62.3% ABV after 50 years. Only 24 bottles were produced, in 70cl size. Each bottle carries a haiku by the nineteenth-century poet Masaoka Shiki. The 24 poems follow the 24 stages of the solar year in Japan, and each bottle also has a picture matching its poem. The bottle is painted in gold and comes with a wooden box and booklet.
