Karuizawa – 1976/2011 35 Year Old Single Cask N. Hayashi Square Bottle (70cl, 61.5%)

This is a single-cask Karuizawa distilled in 1976 and bottled on 20 December 2011 after 35 years of maturation, at 61.5% ABV. The cask was chosen by the distillery's Master Distiller, Osami Uchibori, following a commission from the Japanese singer N. Hayashi, who wanted a private bottling. When the project was cancelled at the final stage, every bottle stayed with Uchibori. The whisky was filled into square bottles and kept for private tastings that he hosted himself. The remainder was later rebottled into the round Karuizawa bottles that are better known.
