Karuizawa – 1995/2012 16 Year Old Shinanoya Private Cask 5th Anniversary (70cl, 69.3%)

This is a single-cask Karuizawa distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2012 after 16 years in a Japanese wine cask. It was released for the 5th anniversary of Shinanoya's Private Cask series, at a cask strength of 69.3% ABV, with 180 bottles filled. Karuizawa stopped production in 2000, and most of its bottlings were matured in sherry casks. This one spent its whole maturation in Japanese wine wood instead, which sets it apart from the usual house style of the distillery.
