This is a single cask Karuizawa single malt, distilled in 1984 and bottled in 2012 at 27 years old. It was filled from a Spanish oak sherry butt, number 3692, and produced 359 bottles at 61.6% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. Number One Drinks Company was the bottler.
The nose has gunpowder, struck matches and truffles, then chocolate and raspberry jelly. The palate is rich and powerful, with prunes, Armagnac, black pipe tobacco and a tarry, smoky side. The finish is long, dry and very chocolaty, with white pepper and a smokier, ashier aftertaste.
