Karuizawa – 30 Year Old Distilled 1981 Single Cask (70cl, 58.3%)

Karuizawa 30 Year Old is a Japanese single cask single malt at 58.3% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled in 1981 and bottled thirty years later, on 5 September 2011. A total of 543 bottles were released. The nose is powerful and leathery, with humus and orange marmalade, then patchouli and a little eucalyptus. The palate is rich, with a touch of kirsch, orange marmalade and bitter spices, including plenty of cinnamon. The finish is long and lively.
