This is a single cask Karuizawa, distilled in 1967 and bottled on 17 August 2009 at 42 years old. It was released for the 10th anniversary of The Whisky Exchange, with 229 bottles filled from cask 6426 at 58.4%. The spirit was made from peated barley and aged in Spanish sherry casks, which gives a sherried and peaty character. Karuizawa, in Japan, stopped production in 2000 and closed in 2011. The nose runs from old leather, dry sherry and pipe tobacco to cedar, plum jam and old Armagnac. On the palate there are walnut liqueur, bitter chocolate and pine resin, and the finish is very long, dry and spicy.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
