This is a Karuizawa Cask Strength single malt from the 1999-2000 vintage, from a Japanese distillery that is no longer working. It belongs to the "36 Views" series, and its label shows Views of Mount Fuji Across Lake Suwa.
The nose is rich with sherry, dark fruit, citrus peel, warm spice and caramel. The palate is bold, with blackcurrant, plum, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and oak spice. The finish is long and warming, with lingering fruit, cardamom and a hint of smoke.
