Kavalan – Oloroso Sherry Cask Single Malt Whisky Cask Strength 15th Anniversary (75cl)

This is a Taiwanese single malt from Kavalan, bottled for its 15th anniversary at cask strength and non-chill-filtered, in a 75cl bottle. It was matured in an Oloroso sherry cask from Spain's Sherry Triangle and hand-selected from the 2009 distillation year. The notes describe plum and mixed dried fruits with citrus and caramel sweetness. The nose brings candied cherries, raisins and almonds, finishing with delicate vanilla. On the palate there are dark chocolate, espresso and toasty brown sugar alongside woody notes, with cinnamon and clove and refined tannins. Tart tropical fruit, such as guava, papaya and starfruit, appears late.
