Kavalan Peatist Ex-Bourbon Cask is a Taiwanese single malt from the distillery's Peatist series, in a 70cl bottle. It is distilled from peated barley and matured fully in American ex-bourbon barrels, rather than being unpeated spirit finished in peated casks.
Peat is used to add depth alongside Kavalan's tropical character. The nose has gentle peat smoke with mango, banana, longan, coconut cream, vanilla and honey. The palate brings vanilla butter cake, tropical fruit and warm oak, with a vanilla custard note. The finish is long, with wood spice and orchard sweetness.
