Kilchoman – 13 Year Old Calvados Cask (70cl, 50%)

This is a peated 13 year old Islay single malt from Kilchoman, the first 13 year old the distillery has released. It is a limited edition, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in a combination of bourbon barrels, octaves and Calvados casks, giving layers of orchard fruits, vanilla and smoky maritime peat. The nose is fragrant and delicate, with fresh pineapple, hibiscus and lemon sherbets. The palate is herbaceous, with dried apple granola, caramelised puffed wheat and buttered popcorn. The finish is light, with orchard fruits and a zesty freshness.
