Kilchoman – 16 Year Old

This is a 16 year old Kilchoman single malt from Islay, peated to 50 ppm. It is the distillery's first 16 year old and was released in November 2023 in an outturn of 5,000 bottles. It was matured in 21 selected casks, mostly ex-bourbon barrels with a small share of oloroso sherry casks. The distillery first distilled spirit in November 2005. The nose is rich, with creamy citrus sweetness and layers of stewed apples, pears and plums, plus a little nutmeg. On the palate come festive spices, fresh vanilla, tropical fruit and smouldering peat smoke. The finish brings dried mango and apricot, barbecue smoke and a lasting, mouth-filling honey sweetness.
