Kilchoman Belgium Small Batch Release No. 1 is an Islay single malt created for the Belgian market in 2019, with 1,260 bottles released. It is bottled at 48.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The casks are 70% bourbon, 5% sherry and 25% STR red wine casks (shaved, toasted and re-charred).
The nose is soft peat smoke, citrus, vanilla and light red fruit, with a little spice from the STR casks. The palate brings sweet smoke, honey, toffee, red fruit, toasted oak and warm spice. The finish is long, with smoke, sweet oak and a touch of wine wood.
