Kilchoman Casado (2022 Edition) is an Islay single malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and natural in colour. Casado is Portuguese for married, which describes how it was made.
The spirit spent six years in fresh bourbon barrels. Thirty-eight casks were then selected and married for two more years in two 6,000-litre Portuguese red wine vats.
The nose has campfire smoke with peach, plum, cherry and marzipan. Pepper and dry, salty peat smoke lead the palate, with apricot and lemon coming through. The finish is long and spicy, with stewed fruit.
