Kilchoman Cognac Cask Matured Release 2023 is an Islay single malt and the distillery's first official release matured in Cognac casks. The whisky was distilled in 2016 and matured for at least six years in 32 barriques from the Bossuet cooperage in France, all previously used for Cognac.
It is bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle, and the release is limited to 15,100 bottles worldwide.
The nose offers rich apple and pear with honey, warming spice and delicate peat. The palate is buttery, with dried lemon, apricot, cinnamon and nutmeg, and the finish brings marzipan, crystallised ginger and lingering peat smoke.
