Kilchoman – Loch Gorm 2022 Sherry Cask (70cl, 46%)

This is the 2022 Loch Gorm from Kilchoman on Islay, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks from the Bodega Jose y Miguel Martin, the bodega that also supplies Glenfarclas. The vatting uses 22 butts, with casks from eight to fourteen years old, and the malt is peated to 50 ppm. The nose has sweet pipe smoke, strawberry, candied lemon peel, neroli, soft toffee and cloves. The palate brings dark chocolate, toasted walnuts, gentle tobacco smoke, caramel and dates. The finish is long, with cinnamon, liquorice, chocolate bitters and earthy smoke.
