Kilchoman – Loch Gorm 2024 Sherry Butt (70cl, 46%)

This is an Islay single malt from Kilchoman, named after a famously dark, peaty loch overlooked by the distillery. The 2024 edition was matured for a minimum of nine years entirely in Oloroso sherry butts that came from Bodega Jose y Miguel Martin, and is bottled at 46%. Founder Anthony Wills selected 23 casks, 17 fresh and 6 refill, from three different distillation years. The nose has sweet barbecue smoke and cooked fruits, with dark chocolate and dried figs. On the palate there is delicate peat smoke with honey-roasted nuts, cinnamon and malted barley. The finish is fresh citrus with rich toffee.
