Kilchoman – Machir Bay Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Kilchoman Machir Bay is an Islay single malt from a small, independent-minded farm distillery that grows part of its own barley and malts it on its own malting floors. It is named after one of the island's best-known beaches. The whisky is a vatting of 90% ex-bourbon casks and 10% ex-sherry casks. The nose is open, with peat smoke, sea air, an industrial harbour, vanilla, peaches, shortbread and candied fruit. On the palate it is very savoury and still smoky, with dying embers and seaweed, then shortbread, fruit sweets and aniseed. The finish is long, with peat and sweetened lemonade.
